Protection masks are basically available in three protection levels, whereby FFP1 filters must retain at least 80 percent, FFP2 filters 94 percent and FFP3 filters 99 percent of a NaCl test aerosol. Unlike most surgical masks, the masks guarantee a tight fit when used correctly. If there is a possibility of being exposed to "coughing fits" of the patient during use, they should wear at least FFP2 masks. The recommended wearing time is 2-3 hours (for permanent wearing), at the latest then they should be taken off or changed. Due to the formation of moisture, the mask is no longer comfortable and the protective effect of the mask also decreases.
